Who we are

California Heights United Methodist Children's Center (or “Cal Heights UMCC”) was founded in 1972 by a group of parents from the California Heights United Methodist Church who were concerned about the developmental and educational needs of their children. The basis of the Cal Heights UMCC program is that all children are unique individuals, created and loved by God.

Mission Statement

The mission of Cal Heights UMCC is to support and promote the Center’s commitment to the children’s success by providing access to vital, comprehensive and quality education programs and services which reflect and address the needs of all the children.

To fulfill our mission, the teaching staff of Cal Heights UMCC is dedicated to:

  • Providing essential support that assists children in accomplishing their educational goals.

  • Enriching the lives of children and families by providing quality care and education that:

    • Enhances the child’s growth and development

    • Maintains a safe and positive environment that promotes critical and independent thinking, creativity, and respectful relationships.

  • Strengthening parenting skills through modeling, parent involvement, and parent education.

Licensing

We are licensed by the State of California and have yearly inspections by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing and the Long Beach Fire Department. We comply with Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
